Fabric Heat Shrink Sleeves and Self Closing Protection Sleeves that twist into tube shape after applying onto wires or cables are only two highlights that deserve special mentioning. Although it is the nature of sleeve type products to be rather narrow in size, the technology available to weftron in producing technical textiles also allow the fabrication of wider products. The key advantage of weftron Flexible Heat Shields is that none or hardly any tooling costs are required to solve problems caused by radiating heat. Even complex shaped hoses and components are easily protected from radfiating heat. The highly reflective surface layer on weftron Flexible Heat Shields effectively reflect the heat that is caused even by close up sources. In one situation for example a heat emitting source with surface temperatures of over 400°C destroyed a rubber hose that had to be routed only 30mm away from this heat source. A flexible heat shield sleeve with the highly heat reflecting surfaces as all weftron WRFLCT products have was installed right on the rubber hose. The problem of damaged hoses was solved for the complete life cycle of the appllication. Temperature measurements taken on the surface of this protected rubber hose showed a temperature drop of 260°C. Well within the temperature capability of said rubber hose. Further advantages of course are the light weight of weftron Flexible Heat Shield products and the low installed cost as compared to metal heat shields. Issues enountered when installing metal heat shields in vibrating environments, such as rattle noises or the need for special fastening methods are not an issue with Flexible Heat Shields by weftron.com
